The sequel continues the story of how ultra-intelligent simian Caesar presides over the fall of human civilization. After the apes break out of their facility, a virus breaks out that causes the collapse of human society. The new project is taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society's new rulers.And yes, at this moment we know that Serkis will reprise his role from the first film as the ape Caesar. So, this is what it looks like when evolution becomes revolution? Cool, indeed. We have the first teaser image from Matt Reeves‘ upcoming movie and I'm sure you're going to love it. Apes with guns? Who would say no? But first, let us all remind – the first movie, directed by Rupert Wyatt and titled Rise of the Planet of the Apes, earned $481.8 million worldwide on a budget of $93 million. The movie starred James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo and Andy Serkis, and was released on August 5th, 2011.
Now, we have director Matt Reeves on board, with Scott Z. Burns, Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa and Mark Bomback all behind the script, and as we previously reported Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is already set to open on May 23rd, 2014.
