An UK comedy writer, Drew Pearce has now been tasked with the engagement, and he's once again right in the Marvel Studios pocket.
Pearce did write the screenplay for Marvel's Runaways and, possible, that's why Marvel hired him. He's also known for his work on the U.K. superhero series No Heroics including a few more TV producing credits (Lip Service and Damage Control).
Early thoughts were that new Iron Man 3 director Shane Black might also write the screenplay for this upcoming sequel, but Marvel Studios has hired Pearce to scribe the further adventures of Tony Stark. Sooner rather than later, after shooting The Avengers, Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark.
Drew Pearce will work closely with Shane Black in creating this next story — Marvel is saying that the story will be written from scratch, suggesting that it is a “reboot”.
It will be interesting to see how this runs down. Pearce is already familiar with Marvel and how they operate and even though Black will be “closely working” with the screenwriter, it's still not the same thing and not much of a comfort.
No reason is given as to why Black won't take his hand to the material. Speculation is mounting that he has in development projects such as Doc Savage for Sony and Death Note for Warner Bros.
However, Pearce is in talks to jump on one of Marvel's biggest hits that will be released May 3, 2013 through Disney.
Check out the trailer for the No Heroics show below. Not so bad, indeed better than expected.

Does this mean – no Pepper Potts in Iron Man 3!?
That news doesn’t make any sense…
