Duncan Jones to Direct Ian Fleming Biopic

DuncanJones There are numerous Ian Fleming biographies, but Andrew Lycett‘s ‘Ian Fleming: The Man Behind James Bond' is one of the best at giving an accurate picture of Agent 007 creator and his life. Well, Bafta-winning Moon director Duncan Jones will focus on the events in Fleming's own life that inspired his books. He's currently casting the pic, which is currently operating under the working title of Fleming. Jones says he aims to explore and tie together the author's personal life with his biography: He said:
Fleming lived through one of the most perilous periods in world history, in a position that allowed him a unique vantage point of all the players, all the stakes. He witnesses true heroism first-hand. And he saw the evil men could do. Then, when the war ended, he went off to write fiction. The essential question for me is where did Ian Fleming end and Bond begin?
The creator of the Cold War's archetypal secret agent, Fleming served as a Naval intelligence officer for the Royal Navy in WWII, helping to mastermind secret operations around the world; his adventures inspired him to create 007. Fleming's first book, Casino Royale, began the long line of Bond novels for which he would earn lasting fame. Matt Brown (untitled 1920s drama about Two-Gun Cohen, the British bodyguard to Sun Yat-sen) wrote the script. James McAvoy was once rumored for the part. Johnson will begin production on the film later this year. Stay tuned. IanFleming Source: Variety
