Eric Bana and Danny Huston in ELVIS & NIXON
Another movie about Elvis Presley? Bitter they are – harder they fall says Elvis, but Eric Bana and Danny Huston say – what the hell, let's do Elvis & Nixon!
And that's exactly the title of the upcoming Cary Elwes‘ (yeah, actor Elwes) directorial debut which will center on the famous Dec. 21, 1970, visit that Presley paid to Nixon at the White House. Guess who will star as Elvis?
So, Elwes wrote the screenplay along with Joey and Hanala Sagal, and as we said, the story will center on “the meeting which was initiated by Presley, who wrote Nixon a six-page letter requesting a visit and suggesting that he be made a “Federal Agent-at-Large” in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.
Presley brought with him family photos and a Colt 45 pistol as a personal gift to the president.”
Yeah, that sounds weird, funny, what else? But we still have no idea if they're actually planning on making this look as a comedy?
Anyway, Bana is not on board only as an exec producer, he's also set to star as Elvis, while Danny Huston is in final negotiations to play President Richard M. Nixon.
Anyone interested?
