Film Independent has released the first photos from Richard Linklater's true-life comedic drama “Bernie“
The film will kick off the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival on June 16 at Regal Cinemas Stadium 14 L.A. LIVE.
Bernie is written by Skip Hollandsworth and Linklater, stars Jack Black, Shirley MacLaine and Matthew McConaughey. Black plays Bernie, the beloved mortician in a small Texas town. MacLaine is the town's richest, meanest widow, and even she adores him.
Linklater has said this about the film,
“[And it's] set in a little town of Huntsville, East Texas, kind of a little black comedy. It's my ‘Fargo' in East Texas, where I group up, so it's crazy local with fifty characters. It's about a funeral home assistant who befriends this old lady. It's kind of a true crime story.”
