First Clip from Tim Burton’s FRANKENWEENIE Introduces Mr. Ryzkruski

Frankenweenie-Lightning Clip In this new clip from Frankenweenie we hear that substitute teacher Mr. Ryzkruski is voiced by Tim Burton favorite Martin Landau who scored an Oscar for his dead-on performance as Dracula icon Bela Lugosi in Burton’s brilliant Ed Wood. Wierdo Mr. Ryzkruski galvanizes class with a presentation on the power of electricity and inspires Victor’s (Charlie Tahan) curiosity. Burton’s stop-motion animated movie also featuring the voices of Winona Rider, Martin Short, Christopher Lee and Catherine O’Hara, opens October 5th, 2012. The clip and the stop motion looks gorgeous, still remains to see what’s going to happen to the storytelling, which is Burton’s main weakness as of late. Frankenweenie producer Allison Abbate told Wired:
We really enjoyed developing this character Mr. Ryzkruski is free-thinking and open-minded — the kind of teacher that is able to break through and make us think in a new way. When Tim designed the puppet, he wanted him to be imposing and intriguing, but also cool and appealing.

From creative genius Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas) comes Frankenweenie,  a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new ‘leash on life’ can be monstrous.
