Paramount's G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation has officially started production with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, posting a picture of himself in character as Roadblock via his Twitter. Johnson added a brief message with the photo, which depicts the wrestler-turned-actor in costume as heavy machine gunner and aspiring chef Roadblock.
1st day of shooting. 110 degrees. Bring It.
The idea that Paramount would let Dwayne Johnson debut a portrait of Roadblock so early isn't that surprising. With almost 1 million followers (957,000 and counting) The Rock has a whole army of prophetizing fans at his disposal.
The Rock joins the original cast of the movie such as Channing Tatum, Ray Park and Lee Byung-hun who will reprise their roles as Duke, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow respectively. Bruce Willis was recently rumored to be added to the line-up to play General Joe Colton, the original Joe, but it has not been made official yet.
A sequel to “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra”, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” has Jon M. Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) at the helm. Penned by Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation is set to hit theaters on March 29th, 2013.
