First Teaser Trailer For FOXCATCHER

Nick Martin September 27, 2013 Add a Comment
Foxcatcher-Steve Carell Sony Classics has released the first teaser trailer for director Bennett Miller's (Moneyball) upcoming drama Foxcatcher that was originally set to open December 20th, 2013, but distributor announced it would be pushed back to an unspecified date in 2014 so the filmmakers ‘can have more time to finish the film.' Unfortunately Sony have requested the trailer be removed from the internet, but one can try their luck below, until it gets taken down. The unsettling teaser sees Steve Carell not only undergo a wild physical transformation, but such an intense dramatic character is far removed from any role the usually comedic actor has previously taken on. Miller, who has won much acclaim before with both Moneyball and Capote, this time is bringing a chilling look at one man's descent into madness that may be going three-for-three. Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo co-stars as Olympic Wrestling Champion brothers Mark and Dave Schultz who experienced the dark side of relationship with eccentric millionaire John du Pont (Carell). Written by E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman, the script is inspired by real events that took place in the old Du Pont's estate formerly known as Foxcatcher farm. The film also stars Vanessa Redgrave, Sienna Miller and Anthony Michael Hall. Take a look and stay tuned for its official return. [jwplayer mediaid=”171554″] Here's at least the official synopsis for the film:
FOXCATCHER, a psychological drama directed by Academy Award® nominee Bennett Miller (MONEYBALL) and starring Golden Globe® winner Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Academy Award®nominee Mark Ruffalo, Academy Award® winner Vanessa Redgrave and Sienna Miller, will have its World Premiere on Friday, November 8 as the Opening Weekend Gala. The film was written by E. Max Frye and Academy Award® nominee Dan Futterman. FOXCATCHER tells the story of Olympic Gold Medal-winning wrestler Mark Schultz (Tatum), who sees a way out from the shadow of his more celebrated wrestling brother Dave (Ruffalo) and a life of poverty when he is summoned by eccentric multi-millionaire John du Pont (Carell) to move onto his estate and train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Desperate to gain the respect of his disapproving mother, du Pont begins “coaching” a world-class athletic team and, in the process, lures Mark into dangerous habits, breaks his confidence and drives him into a self-destructive spiral. Based on actual events, FOXCATCHER is a gripping and profoundly American story of fragile men who pinned their hopes for love and redemption on a desperate obsession for greatness that was to end in tragedy.
