First official images from Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby have leaked online. Maybe you expect me to say the well-known trio looks fantastic, but they don’t.
When I say trio, I mean Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire.
As for Joel Edgerton who’s also in a pic, I can hardly recognize him. He doesn’t exist. That’s how attractive they all are.
So, if you ask me, at this moment The Great Gatsby looks everything but great to me. On the other hand, I have nothing against the story.
Nick Carraway comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. That already sounds interesting.
But then he lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan.
Everyone can guess that’s more than enough to pen a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy.
But can you, for a change, pen this kind of tale on a big screen without 3D? Guess not, and that’s exactly why The Great Gatsby will open in 3D on December 25th, 2012.
Let us know what you think, and stay tuned for more (if you think you can handle it).
