Nick Martin September 4, 2013 Add a Comment
Fruitvale Station Fruitvale Station, originally titled Fruitvale, earned both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, and has been selected to compete in the Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard section. So, get used to hearing about a young man in the San Francisco Bay area who encounters friends, family, enemies and strangers on the last day of 2008. The haunting first trailer for indie sensation from Ryan Coogler, a USC graduate making his feature debut, is now available. Michael B. Jordan stars as Oscar Grant who was considering dealing marijuana to make money for his family and was shot and killed at age 22 by a BART police officer at the Fruitvale station in Oakland, Calif. on New Year's Day in 2009. The provoking story of one man's struggle to get his life on track and the tragedy that cut it short also stars Melonie Diaz, Kevin Durand, Chad Michael Murray and Octavia Spencer. The Weinstein Company is set to release Fruitvale Station in limited theaters starting on July 26th, 2013. Below, also find the film's new theatrical poster. FRUITVALE STATION-POSTER
