I hate to start this report with saying that Justin Bieber: Never Say Never helmer Jon Chu will be responsible for the upcoming G.I. Joe 2, but I have to remind you that he's in the director's chair.
And then, I have to share with you G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes release date, because it's going to be August 10, 2012, and because then you're not going to be surprised with the fact that filming is set to begin in the middle of August.
Now, check the rest of this report to find out more details about the whole thing.
First of all, thank God that Chu likes to talk about his plans. Last month he revealed:
“We're just beginning it. We just got the deal done, so now I get to get my hands dirty; this is the fun part, where we get to do pre-vis, to design characters, design worlds and literally the things I would create in my backyard.”
I'm sure you remember our previous reports about this sequel, so you know that we mentioned the possibility for G.I. Joe 2 to be shot in 3D. Or, as Chu explained:
“I really want to do it in 3D, but the decision hasn't been made yet. A lot of factors that go into that, which I think it's good to have a big discussion about. I think it's going to be perfect for it, but there are other factors that are built into it-how it slows you down, things like that.
But I could try some other things if it wasn't in 3D; it would change my whole view of how I would make this movie, so we're trying to figure it out.”
But now, it looks like that's not going to happen after all. According to Collider, the film will not be shooting in 3D and not post converting.
As usual, we'll keep an eye on G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes so make sure you stay tuned!
