We already had a little chat about the upcoming Matt Piedmont‘s Spanish comedy Casa de mi Padre or if you prefer “House of my father.”
So, by now, you know that Will Ferrell is attached to star in it, and to produce the whole thing.
Today, we’re here for a little casting update, because Diego Luna (that we all remember from Milk) and Gael Garcia Bernal (best known from Blindness) are joining the project as well!
At this moment, not much is known about the project, because the plot is being kept under wraps.
Still, according to some reports, the film will adopt the style of dramatic Mexican ‘telenovela’ soap, and will have English subtitles.
Diego Luna will play Ferrell’s brother, while Gael Garcia Bernal plays “a family friend.” Also in the cast are Genesis Rodriguez as Ferrell’s love interest, Pedro Armendariz Jr., Hector Jimenez and Adrian Martinez.
Emilio Diez Barroso and Darlene Caamano Loquet of NALA Films are teaming up with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick and Jessica Elbaum of Gary Sanchez Productions to produce Casa De Mi Padre and NALA Films is fully financing Casa de mi Padre which is set to start shooting this September in California.
