Gerard Butler, Matthew Fox or Colin Farrell in Consent to Kill?
Consent to Kill, the first in a planned series of movies based on the thrillers of Vince Flynn, is headed screen wards with Antoine Fuqua directing.
We already had a chance to hear this news, but the big question now is – who will play CIA counter-terrorism agent Mitch Rapp?
The producers say: let it be Matthew Fox, Gerard Butler or Colin Farrell!
But let's start from the beginning. We know Consent to kill is based on one of Vince Flynn's novels about agent Rapp, and that there are several books about this character.
This is not the first of the 11 novels but seems like they think it's the best way to start the whole thing. Or if you prefer the synopsis:
On the front lines of the global war on terror, CIA super agent Mitch Rapp races to save one more life: his own. An eye for an eye: that's what the powerful father of a dead terrorist demands in retribution – and with his hate-filled plea, Mitch Rapp becomes the target of an explosive international conspiracy.
The fearless operative has both killed with impunity and tortured to avert disaster, all in a battle to preserve freedom. But even among America's allies, some believe the time has come to bring Rapp down.
Now the hunter is the hunted, and Rapp must rely on his razor-sharp instincts for survival and justice, as he unleashes his fury on those who have betrayed him.
So as you see, this tough guy is in the middle of the war on terror, so no wonder this adventure takes in the US, Afghanistan and Spain, with a script by Jonathan Lemkin (you remember him from Lethal Weapon 4 and Shooter).
And as we said, now is about the right time for an upcoming hero to become alive. We have three well known actors, and only one can be Mitch Rapp.
There are rumors that Gerard Butler is the studio favorite, but that Colin Farrell‘s chances are not so small either. Maybe you don't match Farrell's name with action movies, but seems that CBS like him because of SWAT.
On the other hand, there is also some information that Matthew Fox, is lobbying very hard for the role. Well, since the series Lost have its final season, no wonder he's trying to get busy in the future, only now, when it comes to Fox, the question is – can he carry an action/thriller franchise?
We could also mention that CBS Films has had conversations with Jon Hamm and Keanu Reeves as well, but right now those three actors are the closest to the role.
We're sure you already have your “favorite agent Rapp”, but as you see, nothing is known for sure. At least – not yet!
We'll be waiting for some new information, so you'll be definitely be among the first to find out who got lucky!

Gerard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen where he has the guy, who raped and killed his wife, had the Mitch Rapp zeal. I hated that movie, the guy was a sicko, but in that scene I saw that this guy could do it.
Mitch Rapp isn’t evil, he just hurting. He takes known bad guys and does what needs to be done. Yes if he got someone really bad he has a good day. He is nothing like Detective Vic Mackey who sailed past the line.
Bad people do bad things and someone has to keep this country safe, He often thinks about quitting, but then someone killed his wife.. And he let them live… he quotes the Koran to the terrorist.
I think Brad Pitt would ruin this movie, even if he was really trying as hard as Joaquin Phoenix in “Walk the Line “the Johnny Cash biopic, and Keanu Reeves would cause CBS stock to be sold as they went insane.
Gerard Butler if he took this role and really gave himself to the part could shine like Christian Bale in the “The Dark Knight” when the other Batman movies were laughable.
But I really can’t see this movie ever really seriously being made right. Hollywood makes the CIA look like they are all yakuza or morons. The only realist glimpse was Jack Ryan play by Harrison Ford – “Here is my card”
