The day after the news broke that John C. Reilly was up for a role as Rhomann Dey in James Gunn‘s 2014 cosmic Marvel team-up movie, it seems Glenn Close is up for a similar role of the ‘head cop' in slowly-growing Guardians of the Galaxy.
She will be playing a major leadership role in Nova Corp, the intergalactic space patrol (similar to Samuel L. Jackson's S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury in Captain America 2).
Story details are being kept under wraps as is the case with all Marvel movies.
Gunn handled screenwriting duties and will begin production on Guardians of the Galaxy next month.
The space-set sci-fi adventure has already added a cast that includes Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer, and Michael Rooker as Yondu, along with Ophelia Lovibond as one of The Collector's henchmen, Lee Pace as the villain The Controller or Ronan the Accuse and Reilly of course.
The flick is due to be released on August 1st, 2014.
Close most recently starred in Albert Nobbs and on the television series ‘Damages'. Six-time Oscar nominee Close just finished shooting the indie film Lowdown and is shooting Five To Seven with Anton Yelchin and Frank Langella.
