Harrison Ford Set To Return As Han Solo In STAR WARS: EPISODE VII?

Nick Martin February 16, 2013 Add a Comment
Harrison Ford as Han Solo in Star Wars Episode We already learned that Harrison Ford is open to the idea of reprising his role as Han Solo, who he last portrayed in 1983s Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. The rumor came from EW and now Latino Review broke the news that Ford had signed on to appear in the new Star Wars film. In fact, pretty much every previous Star Wars thesp has publicly expressed their interest in reprising their roles along with fellow original trilogy co-stars Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. Other word had it that the Episode VII would involve an older Luke Skywalker… As for Ford, he wanted Solo to die at the end of Star Wars: Episode VI – The Return of the Jedi, but George Lucas decided that would be a bad choice for financial reasons. He told Peter Travers in an interview with ABC in 2010:
I thought he should have died in the last one, just to give it some bottom; some gravitas. George didn't think there was any future in dead Han toys.
And he also expressed concern about there being any future for Solo:
I don't think there's a way to weave him back into the story.
Despite the fact some of the news has been confirmed as that of J.J. Abrams will direct the next installment in the franchise, according to EW.com writer Geoff Boucher, Ford's deal is not yet complete and it could be ‘months' before he signs (below). But for now, Michael Arndt's story of Episode VII scheduled to hit theaters in 2015 is still unknown.

Harrison Ford deal? My source says not yet. "It will not be for weeks and perhaps months."
