James McTeigue to Direct Message from the King
James McTeigue is probably best known as V For Vendetta helmer, but we'll soon have a chance to add another title next to his name, because according to the latest reports, he has come on board to direct the character-driven thriller Message from the King.
Well, this definitely sounds like an interesting project for man who recently wrapped the Edgar Allen Poe-centered thriller The Raven.
At this moment we know that McTeigue's newest project will center on Jacob King, an enigmatic outsider who comes to Los Angeles to investigate the sudden and mysterious disappearance of his sister.
Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell wrote the script which FilmNation Entertainment's head of production Aaron Ryder is producing with Rhodri Thomas of The Ink Factory and Ash Shah.
That's an interesting team, indeed. In addition to that, Rhodri Thomas from The Ink Factory revealed that “this script harks back to our favorite character-led thrillers of the 1970s, but depicts Los Angeles in a distinctive, contemporary light. With James at the helm we're sure to see something exciting and original.”
Message from the King is slated to begin production in the late fall and FilmNation will also be handling international sales.
As usual, we'll keep an eye on the whole thing, so make sure you stay tuned for more updates!
