Mirror, Mirror star Lily Collins was quickly replaced with
Jane Levy! The star of ABC series Suburgatory and the forthcoming Josh Schwartz film Fun Size is now set to play the lead role of Mia (equivalent to Bruce Campbell's Ash) in the dark horror of
Fede Alvarez‘s remake of
The Evil Dead.
Shiloh Fernandez, best known for his role in last year's Red Riding Hood had landed the male lead yesterday with no detailed accounts of the character name or description.
The remake of Sam Raimi's classic film is also being co-written by Alvarez (Panic Attack) with Rodo Sayagues and Diablo Cody who polished the draft.
The film's plot is about a group of young adults that travel into the woods to help their friend who recently suffered a drug overdose. While there they discover the Necronomicon, a.k.a. Book of the Dead, and unleash an ancient evil into the forest– Mia is one of five young people attacked by an unrelenting evil presence.
Producers, Raimi, Campbell, and Rob Tapert issued a joint statement last year:
We are committed to making this movie and are inspired by the enduring popularity and enthusiasm for the ‘Evil Dead' series. We can't wait to scare a new generation of moviegoers using filmmaking techniques that were not available to us thirty years ago as well as Fede bringing a fresh eye to the film's original elements.
Evil Dead is scheduled for April 12, 2013 release date.
