Jason Statham in Brian De Palma’s HEAT
William Goldman‘s novel Heat is getting a new adaptation. And this time Burt Reynolds will have nothing to do with it.
But Jason Statham will star and Brian De Palma will direct the action film which tells the story of a tough recovering gambling addict who makes his living providing protection in the rough edges of the gambling world. Are we talking about a remake? Hell, yeah!
So, here's a little description: Statham's character refuses to resort to gunplay, strictly using hand and edged weapon combat. When a dear friend is brutally beaten by a high-rolling mobster, he helps her get her revenge and he ends up in more trouble than he ever imagined.
They all promise us a tightly-wound, fun action-thriller, so I'm in.
On the other hand, we have De Palma and Statham on board for the whole thing and that sounds so… relaxing? I mean, Statham looks quite serious about the Heat, since he'll be in charge for producing it together with Steven Chasman.
At this moment we know that Heat will commence principal photography in France in late 2012 or early 2013.
And as usual, we'll keep an eye on it!
