Jennifer Garner and Nick Nolte in Arthur Remake

Fiona January 18, 2012 1 comment
Jennifer GarnerQuite interesting casting news! Jennifer Garner and Nick Nolte are in talks to join Russell Brand, Helen Mirren and Greta Gerwig in the Arthur remake. This definitely sounds impressive, and looks like director Jason Winer has a lot of reasons to be satisfied with this upcoming comedy, based on the 1981 Dudley Moore film. Arthur follows “a happy drunk with no pretensions at any ambition. He is also the heir to a vast fortune which he is told will only be his if he marries Susan. He doesn't love Susan, but she will make something of him, and that's what the family expects. Arthur proposes but then meets a girl with no money who he could easily fall in love with. When his family threatens to cut off Arthur's inheritance if he does not marry Susan, Arthur asks his valet, Hobson (played by John Gielgud) who has been a second father to Arthur, to help out, and so the story goes.” With this remake, we'll have a chance to see a little bit different story. This time, Oscar winner Helen Mirren will play Arthur's longtime nanny, who replaces the valet character from the original film. Russell Brand was previously cast as Arthur, while Greta Gerwig will play “a poor girl”, the role played by Liza Minnelli in the original 1981 film. And if you're still wondering about Jennifer Garner and Nick Nolte, then let's clear things out: Garner is playing an heiress who carries her own secrets and whom Brand must marry, while Nolte is her deeply religious father. At the end of this report, let us remind you that Jason Winer, who executive produces and directs many episodes of the Modern Family show is attached to direct, and Peter Baynham, who works with Sacha Baron Cohen (he was a story writer on Borat and Bruno) is writing the script. With every new Arthur update, we'll be back, so stay tuned!

Hollywood is going cold turkey on pork. Tinseltown is even importing sleaze from the United Kingdom. Russell Brand does Brand Hollywood no favours. He is famous in the United Kingdom for his bizarre and anti social behaviour. He harrassed and abused an old gentleman. There was public outcry in the media at the time. He advocates promiscuity and perversion. What attracts women to this “Rudolf Valintino” of the silverscreen? Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Herpes Zoster, Vaginale Thrush, Bartolin Cyst, Scabies, or are they addicted to Penicillin. He is a shameless swagger, with no substance to his character. Hollywood and his future leading ladies are welcome to him. We will know where they have been. For that matter, so will their grandfathers. Dudley Moore was an accomplished and sophisticated actor, respected and loved by audiences all over the world. The re make of “Arthur” is an insult to his memory. Warner Bros are truly in the gutters with this one.
