Blockbuster director
Jon Favreau is
reportedly eying an independent production for his next feature. The
Iron Man filmmaker is returning to his indie roots (1996 comedy
Swingers) as he's currently in negotiations to write, star and direct the
Chef (not to be confused with the movie Bradley Cooper is attached to).
Plot details are currently vague, but it's described as a film ‘set in a Los Angeles-based restaurant run by an emotional chef that Favreau would play.'
Modern Family star
Sofia Vergara is attached to join Favreau as his character's ex-wife, while Boardwalk Empire actor
Bobby Cannavale is in talks to also board the project as a sous-chef;
John Leguizamo is also circling a role.
Favreau has acted in a handful of supporting roles recently and can be seen next Friday in
Iron Man 3. He will appear in
Martin Scorsese‘s
The Wolf of Wall Street later this year.
In 2011, Favreau directed and produced sci-fi Western
Cowboys & Aliens, but
Chef will mark the first time that he has both directed and starred in a film since 2001's
Made.
We'll wait to see how this all turns out.
