While the
Man of Steel 2 storyline may not come from
Frank Miller's graphic novel ‘
The Dark Knight Rises,' Warner Bros. is reportedly still looking for an older Bruce Wayne/Batman that will be in his mid-40s.
The top names surfacing at this stage are:
Josh Brolin, 46;
Ryan Gosling, 32;
Magic Mike's
Joe Manganiello, 36;
The Hobbit‘s
Richard Armitage, 41;
Pacific Rim‘s
Max Martini, 43 and previous
Zack Snyder collaborator
Matthew Goode, 35 (
Watchmen).
Brolin is reportedly the frontrunner for the role at this early stage, though WB sources say that casting hasn't even begun. It seems reasonable since
David S. Goyer has only just started working on the screenplay for the
Man of Steel follow-up, Batman vs.
Superman.
Perhaps we should hear solid casting news on the superhero pic in the coming weeks. The studio is expecting to go into production in early 2014 for a 2015 release.
Who do you think is the best choice for new Batman in an epic showdown between the two heroes?

Jim Caviezel should be Batman. None of these guys would suit the role.
