Joss Whedon on The Avengers
Ok, we can relax now! Black Widow or, if you prefer lovely Scarlett Johansson, will be the only female Avenger, but it's not like she's going to be the only female character in the upcoming Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers!
And this update comes straight from director, so take it as an official thing. Check out the rest of details that Whedon shared with all of us:
“It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger,” he explained. “But she will not be the only female character.”
Let's guess, Pepper Potts from the Iron Man franchise, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, or… Betty Ross, the love interest of Bruce Banner played by Liv Tyler in The Incredible Hulk?
Or perhaps, Natalie Portman's character from Thor, or maybe even Jane Foster?
Or, he must be, on the other hand, referring to that minor villain role that Alice Eve from She's Out of My League has been rumored to be in talks for.
Let's wait and see!
Whedon also shared some details about the story, saying that:
“It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one ‘Avengers' story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man.
You really have to cull from the original and ‘The Ultimates,' which is one of ‘The Avengers' titles.”
At the end let us just remind you that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans will reprise their superhero characters ‘Iron Man' and ‘Captain America', and the movie also stars Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Clark Gregg, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk).
Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios are planning to release The Avengers on May 4, 2012.
