Rumors about the release of
Jurassic Park IV spread since 2002 when it was said that
Joe Johnston would return to helm, but
Steven Spielberg has nabbed another hot director to take over the
Jurassic Park franchise:
Colin Trevorrow is going
Tyrannosaurus Rex big for his next project!
Universal Pictures announced
Safety Not Guaranteed director has been tapped to helm the sequel being produced by Spielberg with a script from Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers
Rick Jaffa and
Amanda Silver.
The studio will open the long-rumored, long-delayed sequel in 3D on June 13th, 2014, which means Trevorrow will need to get down to work quickly.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps, so we have no way of knowing if
those dino-human hybrids are actually going to happen.
Meanwhile, the first film is getting a 3D re-release on April 5th, 2013.
Trevorrow was earlier rumored to be in the mix for Star Wars Episode VII.
Big congrats to you Colin!
