We’ve known that Universal definitely plans on moving forward with a seventh installment as Vin Diesel recently revealed on his Facebook page that the seventh film in the Fast and Furious franchise would start filming this summer in Los Angeles.
Now comes word via THR that Justin Lin will not return for Fast and Furious 7 that Universal wants in theaters summer 2014, which is a year faster than we had to wait from Fast Five to Furious 6.
Lin is currently working hard to finish up Fast and Furious 6, which opens next month and will mark his fourth film in the series (Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6).
Series exhaustion is said to be a factor in his decision followed by studio’s wish to get things moving on Fast 7 as quickly as possible.
Universal execs are reportedly looking to find a replacement by next week.
As for Fast and the Furious 6, the flick is due for release May 24th, 2013, starring Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Paul Walker, Gina Carano, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris Bridges and Elsa Pataky.
What do you think who could replace Lin on Fast & Furious 7?
