Katee Sackhoff, best known as hotshot pilot Kara ‘Starbuck' Thrace in Battlestar Galactica is officially the second name to sign on for untitled female take on Lionsgate's
The Expendables franchise.
Sackhoff has agreed to join former MMA fighter
Gina Carano in the estrogen-powered Expendables riff that 1984 Private Defense Contractors is producing.
Dutch Southern (2007 Black List script Hoof Harrington's Greatest Hits) was tapped to write the all-female actioner back in August. Director has not yet been hired, but several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre continue to circle the project:
Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich, Helen Mirren and
Jamie Lee Curtis.
Producer Adi Shankar said:
If you spend five minutes with Katee it becomes blatantly obvious that she would pwn (sic) most male action stars.
Sackhoff is currently shooting the horror movie Oculus that already has cast Dr Who sidekick Karen Gillan with Brenton Thwaites and Rory Cochrane. She will soon be seen alongside Vin Diesel in Chronicles of Riddick sequel and has wrapped The Haunting in Georgia and Sexy Evil Genius.
