Kevin Smith – the man who simply had to be mentioned when talking about indie movies in the ‘90s – has produced a truly unique series of comedies. Smith, now 54 54-year-old, tries again with his new project, “The 4:30 Movie,” which is schedule to be released September 13. Does it resonate the enchantment of his earlier books?
According to the plot of Smith's new film, there is a teenager who has been struggling through endless attempts of getting a date with his girlfriend. However, the boy's nightmare transforms from a sweet dream into a terrible reality when he and his friends decide to have fun at a movie theatre. From the trailer of this show, it appears that ‘The 4:30 Movie' is about such MTV spirit that Smith championed in his early days albeit the show seems to have been produced with a humble budget. This may well discourage it but it could also be the beginning of a return to the indie roots which made him a star among the art house circuit.

Audiences over the course of the past decade have had adopted highly polarized attitudes toward Smith's latest creations. There were some successful movies like “Red State” but the failed films like “Yoga Hosers” and “Tusk” were irritating. However, the criticism has not deterred his support base, fans who appreciate Smith's honesty in his comedy and narratives.
The sketch comedy and drama of “The 4:30 Movie” might not be as polished as some of Smith's previous works but it will bring the feeling of watching a comedy movie at 4:30 in the morning where people get to see some laughter and touching moments. Just as for the listener and the newcomer, this film may turn into a pleasant look at the whole universe of Kevin smith. Whether it's a comeback or a misfire, one thing is clear: Indeed, one can see that Smith's love for filmmaking still remains burning brightly.
