The Bridesmaids actress and ‘Saturday Night Live’ alumn Kristen Wiig is being eyed for the role of clueless weatherman Brick Tamland’s (Steve Carell) love interest in the Anchorman: The Legend Continues.
I just feel like the two of them have good chemistry, making for a very promising comedy pairing. Should Wiig join on she will be the first non-original player to enter that sacred circle of the Channel 4 Evening News team. Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Carell, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate are set to reprise their roles from the 2004 comedy hit Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
The sequel will again be directed by Adam McKay and will reportedly have an increased number of music sequences. Ferrell and McKay have yet to even finish the script, but interestingly, The Wrap adds that Anchorman: The Legend Continues is set for release in October 2013. Paramount was eyeing an unspecified 2013 date so far. Therefore, we can hold out some hope that Anchorman 2 can really hit next year.
One of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood, Wiig could recently be seen at TIFF signing autographs before the Imogene premiere. She’ll be in next year’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty opposite Ben Stiller, has Hateship, Friendship with Guy Pearce and lending her voice to both Despicable Me 2 and How To Train Your Dragon 2. Furthermore, Wiig is currently filming The Skeleton Twins in Brooklyn, NYC.
