Leonardo DiCaprio fans have nothing to worry about – we've just learned that The Great Gatsby star is in talks to play Grigori Rasputin in Warner Bros' upcoming historical biopic titled Rasputin. Still nothing about the possible director, but what definitely sounds promising is that Jason Hall (man who stands behind Spielberg's American Sniper story) is responsible for the movie script.
So, according to Deadline, DiCaprio is attached to play Grigori Rasputin, a Russian mystic and adviser to the Russian Imperial family the Romanovs in the early 20th century.
On the other hand – to his enemies – he was a charlatan and a controversial figure accused by many eminent persons of various misdeeds, ranging from an unrestricted sexual life (including raping a nun) to undue political domination over the royal family.
Deadline also adds that:
…DiCaprio liked the complicated elements of a child who lost the better part of himself when his brother died, and was capable of kindness but also a ruthlessness.
The film will be produced by Langley Park's Kevin McCormick, by DiCaprio's Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Peter Morgan.
