Luke Arnold to Play INXS Frontman Michael Hutchence
Who the hell is Luke Arnold? Well, first of all, he’s an Australian actor who plays John Silver in Michael Bay’s pirate adventure “Black Sails”, he also starred in 2009 drama “Broken Hill”, and now he’s attached to star as INXS frontman in an upcoming Aussie miniseries based on the ’80s rock band. In other words – Arnold is our new Michael Hutchence!
Titled Never Tear Us Apart: The INXS Story, the two-part, four-hour saga traces the band’s rise and the aftermath of Hutchence’s 1997 death. According to the Playlist, the show will center on the band’s rise to the top, a terrible motorcycle accident involving Hutchence, and his death at the age of 37, the cause of which was officially determined to have been suicide, but was theorized by some to have been autoerotic asphyxiation.
Shine Australia is producing for Oz’s Seven Network – they have the full cooperation of the surviving band members and their manager Chris Murphy who are apparently anxious to tell their side of INXS.
Filming should start within the next two months and it will be the only project sanctioned by the band members to use their extensive music catalogue.
We’ll keep an eye on it, make sure you stay tuned for more updates!
