Last time we had a little chat about Madonna‘s upcoming upcoming W.E. project, we reported that Ewan McGregor is set to star as King Edward VIII, and that the rest of the cast includes Vera Farmiga and Abbie Cornish.
But that's not going to happen. At least, not with that cast. Ok, Cornish is still on board, but McGregor and Farmiga are not, so – as you already guess, we're here to update a whole thing, and share some interesting cast news with you!
W.E. is about the affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson that led to the Brit royal abdicating the throne to marry his divorcee lover.
Above mentioned McGregor and Farmiga were attached to play the royal couple, but now we have Andrea Riseborough and James D'Arcy on board for those roles. On the other hand, Oscar Isaac stars as Cornish's love interest. The rest of the cast includes Natalie Dormer and James and Laurence Fox.
But that's not all, and we're here to share something quite interesting (and not so surprising after all) with you, because it looks that Madonna's daughter, Lourdes is on board as well!
According to Abbie Cornish, Lourdes will play a younger version of her character, Wally Simpson. Here's what she had to say in an interview with MTV:
“She actually plays a younger version of my character, she's a super-cute, younger version of my character.”
By the way Madonna is in charge for the story as well, since she's writing it together with Alex Keshishian (Truth or Dare). It looks that she has great team around herself, and here's what Cornish had to say in defense of Madonna as director:
“She's a natural director. It's in her nature. She's a Leo and she really represents the Leos very well. She's a very smart woman, very well read. She really absorbs a lot about whatever she's involved in. I think she really loves learning. It was interesting to see her evolve throughout the filmmaking process. She's such a cool woman.”
We're definitely going to keep an eye on the W.E. project, so make sure you stay tuned!
