MALEFICENT Grammy Trailer
Disney premiered another new trailer for its live-action villain tale Maleficent during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, giving us a much better idea of what to expect from the new dark vision of the animated classic Sleeping Beauty.
A new 90-second trailer features Lana Del Rey‘s re-imagined version of the classic song “Once Upon a Dream,” with a bit of a Game of Thrones vibe to some of these sweeping shots, as well as some CG-heavy fantasy stuff.
The footage also shows a Narnia-like war between the human kingdom and the forest kingdom and Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning) is caught between the two kingdoms as she has grown to love both equally. The movie explores the untold story of Maleficent and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone.
Angelina Jolie plays the title villainess in this live-action spin that also stars Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, Miranda Richardson, and Lesley Manville. Oscar-winning art director Robert Stromberg (Alice in Wonderland) takes the helm of this reinterpreted fantasy, making it his directorial debut.
Maleficent hits theaters in 3D on May 30th, 2014.
You can get a good listen at Lana's new song, which was written specifically for the OST.
