With Comic-Con a few days away Warner Brothers let out a little bit of news for
Superman fans: the movie will be released in IMAX 3D and the first official summary for
Man of Still also came along with the announcement.
Since
Zack Snyder did not shoot his Superman reboot in the IMAX format, this would be a conversion.
Just check it out below:
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question ‘Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world's beacon of hope – Superman.
The IMAX release of Man of Steel will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX's customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
Man of Steel opens June 14th 2013, and with just under a year of post-production left until release, the best post-conversion 3D is probable. But
now comes word that Warner Bros. is still contemplating whether or not to post-convert the film to 3D, and a final decision has yet to be made.
What is certain is that the film also stars
Amy Adams as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, and
Laurence Fishburne as her editor-in-chief, Perry White; squaring off against the superhero are two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by
Michael Shannon, and Faora, Zod's evil partner, played by
Antje Traue; also from Superman's native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman's mother, played by
Ayelet Zurer, and Superman's father, Jor-El, portrayed by
Russell Crowe.
