MAN OF STEEL Will be Released in IMAX and 3D

Man of Steel Is it really any surprise to you that Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel will be be released in 3D? At this point it shouldn’t be – first they delayed it for an entire year, and the film is now dilly-dallying while waiting for its June 14th, 2013. release; so hey, why not suck up to children and try to extort more money by post-converting it to 3D? Warner Bros. just announced that they will be converting the Superman film to 3D, so that they can charge us more to go see it. Here’s Snyder’s not-so-convincing sales pitch:
The film is going to be a visually exciting experience in all formats: 2D, 3D and IMAX. Anticipating how audiences today embrace 3D, we designed and photographed the movie in a way that would allow ‘Man of Steel’ to captivate those movie goers, while respecting fans who prefer a more traditional cinematic experience. We’ve taken great measures to ensure the film and the story come first, and 3D is meant as an enhancement.
I’ll take an IMAX movie showing over a 3D conversion any day, but if my only way to see it in IMAX is in 3D, then I’m stuck between Scylla and Charybdis. And that only makes me want to skip it entirely – ‘extortion’ doesn’t work well on me, so I guess I’ll just be waiting for the DVD/Bluray release. Don’t blame me, I WANTED to give the film a chance, but this goes way over my tolerance/forgiveness threshold. What about you? Are you excited to see Man of Steel in 3D?
