THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.: Alicia Vikander Scores Female Lead

Nick Martin September 4, 2013 Add a Comment
Alicia Vikander Talented Swedish actress Alicia Vikander scored the lead role in Warner Bros.' The Man from U.N.C.L.E. which stars Tom Cruise. She'll star opposite Cruise and Armie Hammer as a British agent who has a thing for cars, a huge role created specifically for a movie. Guy Ritchie is on board to direct the big-screen adaptation of the 1960s spy show that followed the spy adventures of American agent Napoleon Solo and Soviet agent Illya Kuryakin; Cruise is set to play Solo, while Hammer was recently announced as the actor who would play Kuryakin – two agents who fought against the evil organization known as T.H.R.U.S.H.. The studio previously had Steven Soderbergh set to direct with George Clooney starring, but things didn't work out and Ritchie stepped in. There's still no word about when shooting begins, but rumors are that they are aiming to put this one in theaters some time in 2014. Vikander, who recently finished shooting DreamWorks' Wikileaks movie The Fifth Estate and appeared in  Joe Wright's adaptation of Anna Karenina, can soon be seen in Warner Bros. Pictures' Seventh Son, hitting theaters October 18th, 2013. Tom Cruise-Man from UNCLE
