Mary Elizabeth Winstead In Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who was previously reported as a candidate for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, has officially landed the role of First Lady Mary Todd.
She'll star opposite Benjamin Walker, who plays Abraham Lincoln in 20th Century Fox's vampire adventure. Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Robin McLeavy were the favorites for the role of Mary Todd.
As Deadline reported Scoot McNairy (Monsters) is in a line for a lead role in the Ridley Scott-directed Prometheus, and is circling the role of Josh Speed in the Timur Bekmambetov-directed “Hunter,” both at Fox.
In movie cast's is Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia!) as vampire Henry Sturgess, who shoves Lincoln into his monster-killing trade. Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) was also recently cast as Will (William Seward), Lincoln's right-hand man. Mackie briefly explained the upcoming flick to MTV as ” ‘The Matrix' meets ‘Gladiator' ” in which Bekmambetov will fight Abe and friends against some frightening “Serbian circus attacker dudes.”
We're not convinced how much “slicing dudes up” Winstead will be doing in the film, but it looks like she, and the rest of the cast, will be involved in an extensive amount of historical ass-kicking and other harsh measures to achieve an objective under the helm of director Bekmambetov.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is based on the novel by Seth Graham-Smith who also wrote the script.
The film is scheduled for release on June 22, 2012.
