Barry's second novel Jennifer Government was also optioned once by Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney's company Section Eight Productions that because of the closure of Section 8 the film rights to Jennifer Government had been returned to him and the future of the film adaptation is unknown, though the IMDB reports a 2012 release date for the film.
I hope this new one won't stay in a state of production limbo as it was previous.
The novel follows a secret society where words are the real weapon as they're used by some of the most powerful persuaders out there, members called poets. However, the story revolves two poet lovers who are in a forbidden relationship and try to break from the society.
