Mission: Accepted – that's exactly what director Christopher McQuarrie shared today on his Twitter account. And you already know what that means – Jack Reacher writer and director is officially on board to direct Mission: Impossible 5! Ok, we're not actually surprised with this news, after all – McQuarrie has been the rumored director of the fifth M:I 5 since it was announced.
So, what do we know about the project at this moment? Basically – nothing. I mean, we know that Iron Man 3 co-writer Drew Pearce is in charge for the screenplay, while Tom Cruise is once again on board to play Ethan Hunt (and produce the movie as well).
Still, this could be an interesting combination. It worked pretty well for last year's thriller Jack Reacher which McQuarrie directed from his own script (and Cruise played the title character). On the other hand, McQuarrie is also a credited writer on Cruise's upcoming film Edge of Tomorrow.
So, we definitely have no doubts that Mission: Impossible 5 could be as succesfull as 2011's Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, directed by Brad Bird, which is the highest-grossing M: I film (a worldwide gross of $694.7 million!)
Hope we'll soon have more impossible updates to share, stay tuned!
