Natalie Portman To Star, Michael Sucsy To Direct DARE ME

Natalie Portman Image Nice to see that Black Swan star is back in business. We've just learned that Natalie Portman is set to star in Dare Me, an upcoming big screen adaptation of Megan Abbott‘s novel of the same name! Another great news is that Michael Sucsy, man behind last year's The Vow is set to direct the whole thing. What could possibly go wrong? So, at this moment we know that Sucsy will direct this high school drama from Abbott's own script which revolves around the arrival of Coach French, who upsets varsity cheerleaders Addy Hanlon and Beth Cassidy's domination of the school. Still nothing about Portman's role, but we guess that she comes on board to play that Coach French, described as a charismatic lady, perfect in every way. After all, read the official description of Abbott's novel to see what we're talking about:
Addy and Beth are the varsity cheerleaders all the other girls fear and admire, the unchallenged rulers of their high school kingdom. But everything changes when the new coach arrives. Cool and commanding, Coach French seems perfect in every way, a charismatic presence who overturns the girls' established pecking order and still manages to gain their fierce allegiance in the process. Then a shocking event upends their fragile peace, and a police investigation begins circling in on the coach and her squad. As the girls's season moves towards its highly anticipated finale, Addy and Beth are forced to ask where their loyalties lie as they stakes grow higher, and more dangerous.
Huh, this sounds promising. No wonder they already describe the whole thing as Heathers meets Fight Club. Karen Rosenfelt is attached to produce Dare Me for Fox 2000, and as usual – for more updates – make sure you stay tuned! DARE ME Cover
