Finally the first movie about our new millenium… Yeah, you already know we’re here to have a little chat about David Cronenberg‘s upcoming Cosmopolis, which will compete for Palme d’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Today, we have another new trailer for the whole thing, as well as three new clips which all look quite intense and finally bring us some Manhattan action. Check them out!
So, as you already know, Cosmopolis is based on a Don DeLillo novel of the same name, and stars Robert Pattinson as Eric Packer, billionaire heading across Manhattan for a haircut as he risks assassination and financial turmoil. As he is chauffeured across midtown Manhattan to get a haircut at his father’s old barber, his anxious eyes are glued to the yuan’s exchange rate: it is mounting against all expectations, destroying Eric’s bet against it.
Eric Packer is losing his empire with every tick of the clock. Meanwhile, an eruption of wild activity unfolds in the city’s streets. Petrified as the threats of the real world infringe upon his cloud of virtual convictions, his paranoia intensifies during the course of his 24-hour cross-town odyssey. Packer starts to piece together clues that lead him to a most terrifying secret: his imminent assassination.
Sarah Gadon, Kevin Durand, Jay Baruchel, Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti and Mathieu Amalric also star in Cosmopolis.
As for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, it runs from May 16 – 25th.
