New LIFE OF PI Clip

Fiona October 24, 2012 1 comment
Life of Pi Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you were on a lifeboat alone with a tiger? Yeah, you're reading this correctly, that's exactly what we have for you today – another new clip from the upcoming Life of Pi movie, which opens next month. So far, Ang Lee‘s “groundbreaking” movie looks great, and I'm sure you'll enjoy this completely new video as well. You're already familiar with the story of a young man who survives a tragic disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ship's only other survivor – a fearsome Bengal tiger. But just have in mind that this is not some sugar-sweet story, the movie is PG rated (believe it or not) – for emotional thematic content throughout, and some scary action sequences and peril. What I definitely love about this project is that every single detail looks so perfect. Every single image, poster and trailer for Lee's film has been great, and this one is no exception. “My name is Pi Patel. I have been in a shipwreck. I am on a lifeboat alone with a tiger. Please send help”. – writes Suraj Sharma who stars as the lead. The rest of the cast looks awesome as well – Irffan Khan, Gerard Depardieu, Adil Hussain and Rafe Spall are all on board (not boat!) Life of Pi is set to open on November 21st, 2012. Life of Pi Life of Pi [jwplayer mediaid=”121502″]

Umm. The boy is never really marooned with a tiger, unless you choose to believe that side of the story, that is. The boy creates the tiger to explain a side of him which is raw, aggressive and inexplicable; a side which surfaced owing to dangerous and difficult circumstances The film explores fate and faith, God and religion, truth and make-belief, through the allegory of the animals, the floating island with the meerkats, the imaginary bond with Richard Parker; it’s the same way we place our belief in religion with all its fables, just to make reality appear more palatable. The boy weaves this parallel story to come to terms with the man he had to kill, the violent life he had to lead to survive, and the death of his mother.
