Out of the Furnace -Trailer

In case you somehow missed it, Relativity Media has released the new trailer and poster for director Scott Cooper's (Crazy Heart) upcoming drama Out of the Furnace, and the film looks great.

This new one trailer outlines the story a bit better and includes excessive use of a digital effect of fiery sparks. A gritty revenge thriller with no glimmer of humor features an all star cast including Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Zoë Saldana and Sam Shepard.

Harrelson's role of Curtis is looking to jump straight to the top of the list of roles he has played over the past decade that are increasingly tough, dark, and complex. Harrelson's is not the only highly-anticipated performance as the new trailer spotlights Bale's performance considerably, revealing a lot of nuance in the portrayal.

Out of the Furnace could be the one film that would be one of those dark horse Oscar contenders – the project filled with talented actors looking to tell a compelling story, dark subject matter and November release date put it in a good position to take advantage of such an opportunity.

Out of the Furnace, set to make its world premiere at the 2013 AFI Fest, opens in theaters nationwide on December 6th, 2013.

Synopsis:

From Scott Cooper, the critically-acclaimed writer and director of Crazy Heart, comes a gripping and gritty drama about family, fate, circumstance, and justice. Russell Baze (Christian Bale) has a rough life: he works a dead-end blue collar job at the local steel mill by day, and cares for his terminally ill father by night. When Russell's brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears. The police fail to crack the case, so—with nothing left to lose—Russell takes matters into his own hands, putting his life on the line to seek justice for his brother. The impressive cast of Christian Bale and Casey Affleck are rounded out by Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker, Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard and Willem Dafoe.
