Nick Fury in Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, Short List For Nick Fury’s Female Sidekick

Samuel L. Jackson, Nick Fury Nick Fury, we all love that guy, right? This character has made appearances in two out of the three Marvel superhero films that set the stage for The Avengers, so it's quite logical that Samuel L. Jackson (and who else?) will appear in both Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor! There you go, peace and calm, no big surprise in here… Jackson is a guy who doesn't have to worry about job security for a while. He has a nine-picture deal with Marvel Studios and has done two of them so far – Iron Man, Iron Man 2. So, yesterday Jackson had a little interview with Jimmy Fallon on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” where he revealed that he would be appearing in the two films that will come out later this year. Check out what he had to say: “In the next month or so, I have to do one day on Thor, and I gotta do another day on Captain America and in April we start The Avengers – the big deal with everybody. Thor and Captain America are pretty much done, but I haven't done my part in them yet. I'm just connective tissue for them to join The Avengers.” He also stated that Fury would have a sidekick, a role which has been previously unannounced and not yet been cast: “I gotta screen test like five actresses on Friday. They have this new character that's my sidekick or something, that's with me all the time.” Heat Vision is reporting which actresses will be testing for female sidekick for The Avengers on Friday – Morena Baccarin (Firefly, V), Jessica Lucas (The Covenant, Melrose Place), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother, The Slammin' Salmon) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, the upcoming The Thing). They add that speculation is that its for the role of Janet van Dyne/The Wasp, though that is not confirmed. Let us also remind you that Joe Johnston had previously stated that Nick Fury would not appear in Captain America, although those comments came before Joss Whedon came on-board to work on the whole thing. What do you think about this? Who would you like to see as a possible sidekick “or something”? Let us know, and stay tuned!
