Nicolas Cage To Play GREEN HORNET Villain
Nicolas Cage is in early talks with Columbia Pictures to play the gangster villain in “The Green Hornet.” Cameron Diaz, who was announced a few weeks ago, is negotiating to play the female lead, a reporter and love interest, in the movie.
In Michel Gondry-directed “The Green Hornet,” Seth Rogen stars as the title character and also co-wrote the screenplay with Evan Goldberg.
Rogen will star as Britt Reid, a bored playboy who inherits his father's crusading newspaper, the Daily Sentinel. By night he is a masked hero, fighting crime with his sidekick Kato, who has incredible martial arts skills.
The studio looks to replace Stephen Chow, who was going to play sidekick Kato. Last week it was confirmed that Chow left after what the studio characterized as a “mutual and amicable decision by both sides to move on.”
Cage just completed “The Sorcerer's Apprentice” and remake “The Bad Lieutenant.”
Diaz is booked to star with Tom Cruise in James Mangold-directed action comedy formerly titled “Wichita,” for 20th Century Fox.
“The Green Hornet” is set December 17, 2010 release.
