A few weeks ago
we reported that
Tom Hardy is set to star as the male lead in the upcoming crime drama titled
Animal Rescue. Today comes the word that
Noomi Rapace is being offered the female lead in the whole thing. In other words – yes, please, we like this Hardy/Rapace combination and we totally agree with Fox Searchlight studio and director
Michael R. Roskam!
In case you've missed the previous report, we will once again remind you that
Bullhead helmer Roskam is now officialy on board to direct this Boston set crime drama which is based on the short story by
Dennis Lehane, who also wrote the script.
Animal Rescue will center on a lonely Boston bartender (played by Hardy, obviously) who discovers a discarded pit bull puppy in a garbage can and rescue him. But he soon becomes the target of the dog's abusive and mentally unstable former owner & gets caught in the middle of a criminal conspiracy playing out in his mob-controlled bar.
As for Rapace and her (possible) character,
aka the female lead – still no details, but as usual – we'll keep you updated. At the end, let us also add that the movie starts production this March in New York (yep, the film has been moved from Boston to New York).
