“What have you done with our music?!” That's the rallying cry as Heavier Trip, the Finnish indie comedy sequel to 2018's Heavy Trip, unleashes its official trailer. Co-directed by Juuso Laatio and Jukka Vidgren, the film brings back the quirky heavy metal band Impaled Rektum for another outrageous adventure.
Picking up where the first film left off, the story follows the band as they face imprisonment, a sick family member, and financial ruin. Their guitarist's family home and reindeer slaughterhouse are on the brink of demolition, adding emotional weight to their chaotic journey. While locked up in a Norwegian prison, the band declines an offer to perform at the renowned Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany due to their lack of preparation. But when fate forces their hand, they must rally the raw spirit of heavy metal to reclaim their destiny.
The cast includes Johannes Holopainen, Max Ovaska, Chike Ohanwe, Samuli Jaskio, and Martti Syrjä, among others. With its blend of absurdity, heart, and hardcore riffs, Heavier Trip is set to delight fans of the original and attract new audiences alike.
The film premiered at the 2024 Filmfest Hamburg Festival and saw its Finnish release in October. Now, thanks to Doppelgänger Releasing, it will debut in select US theaters and on VOD starting November 29, 2024. Whether you're a heavy metal enthusiast or just a fan of offbeat comedies, this wacky road trip promises plenty of laughs, epic music, and heartfelt moments.
