has taken to publicly publishing a list of his Top 10 movies from each year and released a list of his 10 favorite films of 2013
thus far. There’s a surprising number of big, popcorn blockbusters here.
I know Tarantino has some oddball choices, but with those he has overcome himself. And, when you really think about it, they’re good enough for him, especially with The Lone Ranger, This Is the End
and Kick-Ass 2
On the other hand, this list is the usual eclectic and interesting mix of indies, character-driven dramas, comic-book movies, and mainstream titles as he’s delivered in recent years.
It doesn’t mean he’s seen every movie released this year, but, as a big fan of grindhouse and of Robert Rodriguez, I’m pretty sure he’s seen Machete Kills
already (kicked off the Fantastic Fest opening night, Sept. 19). It’s just like he’s trying to be like us ordinary mortals who go to the regular movie theaters October 11 to watch Rodriguez new Mexploitation movie.
Here’s the filmmaker’s full roster (so far), in alphabetical order:
The Lone Ranger
This is the End
(Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg)
Tarantino has promised an updated version of the list over the next few months when more Oscar contenders join the mix. So stay tuned for that.
