While both Liam Neeson and Liev Schreiber have been linked for the part, Deadline says that the villain role in Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic, Noah has been offered to Ray Winstone – a man against Russell Crowe in the film, which also stars Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth and Emma Watson.
Noah is Aronofsky’s big screen close adaptation of the Biblical tale of Noah’s Ark. In the Bible, in a world ravaged by human sin, God prepared to cleanse it through a giant flood and called upon Noah to build a giant ark and bring aboard a male and female of every creature to save in order to restart society.
Aronofsky wrote the screenplay alongside Ari Handel and John Logan (Gladiator) performed revisions.
Noah now has a release date of March 28th, 2014.
The British-born actor Winston mostly known for his ‘tough guy’ roles has also become well-known as a voice over actor. He is best known for his roles in movies like The Departed, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Sexy Beast and Hugo. Most recently Winston played as Gort, an ill-tempered dwarf in Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman.
Jennifer Connelly is still rumored to be re-teaming with her the Requiem for a Dream director to play Noah’s wife.
Stay tuned and find a trailer for the graphic novel as well as some images – to help get this movie into production Aronofsky brought on Ari Handel and artist Nico Henrichon to develop a graphic novel based on the script called Noe.
