Kevin Smith finished filming his mysterious movie Red State (in the works for ages) two months ago (according to his blog). To whet the whistle, Smith also released teaser posters and trailer. Smith's exhilaration of the project, the outstanding cast (John Goodman, Melissa Leo, Kevin Pollak, and Anna Gunn) and provoking Baptist-horror theme lead to the question: Is this Kevin Smith's come back? After the Dogma (a 1999 mumblecore with ideas) – the mixture of Smith's messy preferences – comic books, drugs with a sly, expansive vision of the spiritual universe.
Due in theaters next year, the film focuses on a group of rebels who fight against extreme fundamentalism in Middle America and will make you yell before it makes you laugh. With the film being totally indie, Smith used the internet for an open approach to promote the film. He already announced that Red State would be in the Sundance festival in the non-competition section.
