Richard Gere Joins Indie Drama FRANNY‏

Richard Gere Not hard to imagine Richard Gere as a hedonistic philanthropist, right? Guess not, and that’s why we’re here to report that the 63-year-old actor has joined the cast of the upcoming indie drama titled Franny, the feature directorial debut from Andrew Renzi, who will direct the whole thing from his own script. Not much is known about the movie plot, except that Gere comes on board to play the above mentioned hedonistic philanthropist who ingratiates himself into the lives of a newlywed couple in order to recreate the life he once had. It could be an interesting story, but unfortunately, so far it isn’t known who else will star in the film. Still, we’re definitely excited that Gere is involved in this kind of (indie) project. In case you forgot – he has not been seen on the big screen since last year’s “Arbitrage”. As for Renzi, he previously directed the shorts “Karaoke!” and “The Fort”, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year and last year, respectively. Let us also add that the project is being produced by Treehouse Pictures, TideRock Media’s Thomas B. Fore and Jason Michael Berman, and Big Shoes Media’s Jay Schuminsky. Production on Franny starts this October, so I guess we’ll soon have more updates to share. Make sure you stay tuned!
