Rosario Dawson Reveals Why She Turned Down a Star Trek Role for Ahsoka

The beautiful and talented Rosario Dawson, the voice of hit Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano, revealed to audiences at this past weekend's Fan Expo Boston she auditioned for Star Trek but was rejected. One of the biggest points to note would have been that Dawson was just on the verge of becoming part of the elite club of actors that have acted in both Star Trek and Star Wars franchises but would not be able to do that because of her commitment to the Ahsoka series.

Moreover, in her speech at Star Trek convention, Gould said that she was asked to take a role in Star Trek, as one of the Odo's kind – the shape-shifting Changelings. X spoiler Mentally, I could identify myself with Finn: ‘I could have been an immortal puddle guy,” she joked, telegraphing her feeling of failure. The Changelings, notably played by Rene Auberjonois in Star Trek: Major characters such as Jadzia Dax and Benjamin Sisko from the series space, Deep Space Nine, have been featured occasionally in this franchise, although the last appearance was in Star Trek: Picard season 3.

In the interview, Dawson also shared about her goal of portraying a ‘Q' where these characters are known to be mischievous. Her parents divorced while she was young and her father, a fan of Star Trek, suggested that she take up this role and fantasized about her creating havoc. However, her obligations towards Ahsaka, a character who featured prominently in the Star Wars series, forced the rejection of the Star Trek opportunity.

Even though Dawson never got a chance to perform in the Star Trek series, he still is a devoted follower of the franchise. She was constantly dropping Star Trek references on the set of Ahsanka bear, and although she was fun and playful, Dave Filoni, the creator of the show, was amused. Dawson humorously mentioned her allegiance to Star Trek: The appeal of The Next Generation, especially Captain Picard and the recent genius of hinting Star Wars fans and her photo of her in costume as Ahsoka holding a Picard Earl Grey tea bottle in the future she will share.

Ahsoka has been a very popular series and a second season of this show is under production currently with Dave Filoni. There are debates and discussions about the possibility of Dawson joining the Star Trek franchise, and fans still had high expectations. For now, Ahsoka Tano remains a popular character that sends her into the world of science fiction and showcases her dramatic acting abilities.
